Save a copy with metadata removed

A photo can carry capture details such as a date, camera information, or location in addition to the visible scene. This page starts with capture-info removal selected when making a new copy. It does not hide a street sign or a recognizable view through a window. Before posting a photo, check the file information and what the picture itself reveals as two separate tasks.

Add your photo. Metadata removal is already selected under extra settings. Check the output format and save a new file. Share that new copy rather than the untouched original.

    1. Select the original and confirm that capture-info removal is selected.
    2. Check the scene for addresses, vehicle plates, or name tags.
    3. Save a new copy and inspect its location field in your device’s file information.
Will it hide an address or face visible in the photo?

No. Metadata removal changes information stored inside the file. Use Mosaic or Cutout separately to hide visible addresses, license plates or faces.

Can I keep some camera information?

Extra settings let you retain basic metadata. GPS is excluded by default; keeping it requires a separate choice. This entrance opens the converter’s existing metadata controls; it is not a GPS-coordinate inspection report.

My filename contains a name or date. Is that removed?

Removing capture information does not anonymize the filename. Rename the saved copy if its name contains a full name, address, or other detail you do not want to share. Some services show uploaded filenames. Also check the caption and album name for the same information.

Does a messaging app already remove location data?

Some apps remove certain details, but behavior can differ by app version and sending method. Sending a photo and attaching the original file may produce different copies. For an important share, inspect the actual received file rather than assuming the service removed everything you intended.

Can I recover the capture details later?

The removed details cannot be recovered from that new copy. Keep a private original and use a separate copy for sharing. The browser’s work list may still retain the original for continued editing. On a shared computer, remove the relevant local records in Stored data when you have finished.
