    How to use & FAQ

My school or passport application has a file-size limit.

Enter the limit from the instructions. For example, choose 200KB for “200KB or less.” If that would need too much quality loss, we'll show an option to resize instead. If there are width and height limits too, use Resize first. Check the application's other photo requirements separately.

Why is the result much smaller than my target?

Even the highest quality that fits can produce a small file. This often happens with simple images or small dimensions.

What size should I choose for email or messages?

500KB–1MB is usually enough for viewing on a screen. Around 500KB is a useful starting point for sending several photos.

Will the quality get much worse?

We first try ways that keep the image intact, then reduce quality only as much as needed. If the loss would be large, we show alternatives such as smaller dimensions for you to choose.

The saved file is bigger than the original.

An already well-compressed photo can grow when converted to a different format such as PNG. Try JPEG or WebP instead.

Can I compress several photos at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 photos and each is processed separately. Download them together in one ZIP file.
