    Prepare a form attachment

Use this page when a school, recruitment, or other application form gives you a 200 KB photo limit. The limit is not universal: read the instructions for that particular form first. File size, pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, and file type are separate requirements. Meeting one of them does not mean the picture satisfies all the others.

Choose a photo with the 200 KB target ready. JPG is the default output format. Change it if the form requires a different format. If it also sets width or height limits, use Resize first, then reduce the file size here.

    1. Read the form’s accepted formats and width and height limits.
    2. Prepare the required crop and dimensions, then choose the 200 KB target.
    3. Check the actual file size and face detail, save, and upload that copy.
Is file size the only requirement for an ID photo?

No. Check aspect ratio, head size, recency and background too. Compression does not judge those requirements. Use ID photo for dimensions and verify the finished result against the recipient’s rules.

Should I enlarge a file that is already below 200 KB?

Not for an under-200-KB limit. If the source already fits and needs no edits or format change, unnecessary recompression can be avoided. Check separately if the form also has a minimum file size.

Can I crop extra space around an ID photo first?

Only within the head-size and margin requirements of the destination. A passport-style picture must not simply be cropped tightly to save space. Use ID photo guides as an aid alongside official examples. Check that the face position still fits the requirements after preparing the final file.

The form accepts JPG only, but WebP is smaller.

The required format takes priority. Renaming a WebP file to .jpg will not convert it. This page saves as JPG by default. Check that it matches the format required by the recipient. Compare the alternatives carefully: reducing dimensions and reducing colors can produce very different-looking results at the same file size.

The application form still shows my old photo.

Check that you selected the new saved copy after downloading it. Similar filenames make it easy to choose the original again. Give the submission copy a distinct name and check the form’s preview. Follow the form’s own refresh instructions if needed, taking care not to lose other information you have already entered.
