Prepare a 2×2-inch passport photo
A passport photo must meet more than file dimensions: head size, expression, background, and recency also matter. Automatic fitting suggests a crop from the detected face. It does not certify the crown or chin position or guarantee acceptance. Use an original taken to the relevant requirements and check the official instructions for the country and submission method.
The US preset starts at 2×2 inches and 300 DPI, producing 600×600 pixels. Position the head using the editable guides. Check the required 1-to-1⅜-inch head height and the official background, expression and recency rules before saving.
- For the US, check a 2 × 2 inch photo and a 1–1⅜ inch head height.
- For Japan or Korea, check 35 × 45 mm and a 32–36 mm head height.
- After automatic fitting, check the crown, chin, and top margin against official examples.
Does a 600×600 image guarantee acceptance?
No. Correct dimensions alone do not satisfy all passport requirements. This tool cannot certify identity, expression, lighting or eligibility. Follow the application channel’s current official instructions.
Can I retouch the face or replace the background?
Do not digitally alter a passport photo. Take a compliant original against the required background instead. Automatic positioning here only suggests a crop; it does not certify that a photo is acceptable.
Where should the crown guide go?
Follow the head-top definition in the relevant country’s guidance. Hair volume can make automatic estimates inaccurate; the forehead should not be mistaken for the top of the head. Korean guidance specifically distinguishes the head top from the hair. If the original already cuts off the head, choose a different photo.
What commonly needs checking?
Start with head size and shadows on the face or background. Hair over the eyes, reflections in glasses, head tilt, and an old photo can also be issues. Requirements differ by country and application method, so use the linked official examples rather than treating this list as an acceptance checklist.
What does the top-margin warning mean?
The original may not contain enough room above the head for the proposed crop. The tool does not generate missing parts of the head. Use a wider original taken to the requirements rather than artificially extending the image. Decide whether you need a digital upload or a print, since pixels and physical dimensions are different requirements.
